My journey into health coaching

began a few years ago when a friend in her 30’s was diagnosed with breast cancer and I found myself spending my spare time researching the effects of nutrition on the mind and body. I was a real fish fingers & chips kind of girl. I hadn’t tried a curry until my mid-30’s. And I thought lettuce had flavour!! I’ve come a long way since then so I really know where you’re coming from if you just don’t know where to start.

I was almost 40 when I got a reality check. Whilst researching I came to realise that I only have one body and no-one was going to be as invested in my health as me. I’m responsible for creating my own health, no-one else. Anyone else is just there in a supporting role but the desire to create and maintain health must come from within.

And so I began to introduce changes to my own and my family’s diet and encouraged friends and family to do the same. The benefits were immediately evident, not only physically but mentally and all of a sudden mealtimes became fun and varied instead of dreaded because 6pm had come round and we still had no plans for dinner! Along the way I also learnt to love my body instead of judging every lump and bump, which is so liberating!


I know what I want to do when I grow up!

Over the following years several friends and family become ill, some sadly passing away too young. This was the wake-up call I needed to recognise that I was wasting time and energy running a business I no longer felt passionate about. When I finally let go of that business I allowed myself time to really stop and think about ‘what I wanted to do when I grow up’. 

I asked myself what really caught my attention on social media, what emails did I open first, what did I love to talk about, what did I love to do in my spare time, what books did I enjoy reading…? Every time, health, nutrition and exercise were at the core, screaming out to me – it was suddenly clear that this was the only path I wanted and needed to follow.

Looking back I now understand that this desire to help and serve has always been at my core. My happiest work experiences have been as a prison officer where I was helping and supporting young offenders, a care worker in a nursing home and as a volunteer at a homeless shelter. It only took until my 40’s to finally piece it all together!!

Along the way I’ve learnt so much about how the food on your plate is only one contributor to good health. I have shifted my mindset which fundamentally means I am a much happier being. That’s not to say I have no challenges to face, but I have learnt how to handle them better, how to reduce stress, enjoy what I have, respect my body and  be more present in all that I do. And I want to help you to achieve the same for you!

  1. I rarely watch TV but I can’t live without my Kindle/book 
  2. I have sponsored 2 children in West Africa for over 20 years
  3. I cry pathetically when I see or read happy and uplifting videos or stories
  4. I’m an Essex girl but have never danced around in white stilettos round a handbag
  5. I can’t dance and am usually too shy to try, except at one friend’s parties where I always dance (I’m sure they must spike my drinks)
  6. I’m a self-confessed control freak
  7. I met Steve Davis (snooker) in a casino and chatted at length about the book ‘Men are from Mars Women are from Venus’
  8. I’m a sucker for animal charities
  9. I talk too much. My parents used to politely shut me up by telling me there was a draught in the room 
  10. I am know as Lorraine, Laine or Lanie and my nickname at school was Cuddles


My Training

I trained with the renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition®, studying over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. This education, along with the wealth of information I already had, equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health, giving me the expertise and tools I need to help and support clients in making lifestyle changes, specific to their own bio-individuality, that result in them becoming the most amazing, healthy and happy versions of themselves. 


My Clients

In this wonderful age of technology I am able to work with clients anywhere in the world. For those that live in France like me, I’m sure you will agree that life here, particularly in rural areas, can be challenging, and when it comes to improving your health, it’s no exception with the language being the biggest hurdle…. You find a fantastic recipe only to discover you can’t buy the ingredients or work out what the equivalent is …. you want to exercise but you’re too nervous to join a class or leisure centre, if you even have one near you! I take these issues into account with each of my clients and programmes.
